Research Institution
Photonics research activities at University of Southern Denmark are divided between the three faculties for Health, Natural Science and Engineering. Interdisciplinary projects and collaborations includes the areas of microscopy and diagnostics using plasmonic sensors, fluorescence microscopy of lipid structures such as cells, optics with organic nanofibres and chemical analysis with ultrahigh sensitivity enabled by surface enhancement techniques. Laboratories and facilities include confocal microscopy techniques, near-field optical microscopy, nonlinear characterization, surface enhanced Raman microscopies and time-resolved techniques. In relation to surface enhancement, our clean-room facility is used for fabricating nanostructured metallic surfaces and light-guiding structures.
